Concerts at the Levitt Pavilion are made possible in part by the Pasadena Arts & Culture Commission and the City of Pasadena Cultural Affairs Division. The Friends of the Levitt Pavilion are supported in part by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors through the Los Angeles County Arts Commission. The Levitt Pavilion band shell is funded in part by a grant from the unrestricted funds of the Pasadena Community Foundation, made possible by generous donors since 1953.
In 2002, The Mortimer Levitt Foundation endowed a $250,000 grant to the City of Pasadena to restore and transform Memorial Park's 1930's Gold Shell into a professional venue for quality entertainment. New sound systems, lighting, and refurbishment were completed by July 2003. The Friends of the Levitt Pavilion-Pasadena was incorporated as a nonprofit to ensure the success of an annual summer concert series at the restored band shell. The Friends of the Levitt Pavilion-Pasadena are community/business leaders and residents whose goal is to sustain the Pavilion through corporate and individual giving.

The Mortimer Levitt Foundation, created in 1966 by New York philanthropists Mortimer and Mimi Levitt, donates funds to support performing arts venues that build communities, support diversity and enhance access to the arts. The Levitt Foundation has a strong commitment to contribute to the well being of families through the arts in a learning and entertainment environment outdoors. The Levitt Pavilion for the Performing Arts in Pasadena is modeled after the original Levitt Pavilions in Westport, Connecticut, a long-time contributor to the urban community experience. Levitt Pavilions recently opened in Memphis, Tennessee, and in MacArthur Park in Los Angeles, California. Negotiations are underway to open Levitt Pavilions in Arlington, Texas and Long Beach, California.

This year's gala, A Night in Buenos Aires, was our most successful yet, raising over $120,000 for the Levitt Pavilion's 2008 free concert series.
