Rock-Camp-for-Girls-LA-logo

Rock n’ Roll Camp for Girls Los Angeles, a member of the Girls Rock Camp Alliance, formed in the fall of 2009. The Rock n’ Roll Camp experience is designed to mentor girls in music and self-expression, while boosting self-esteem and instilling a sense of self-empowerment. Girls learn to work together to accomplish goals in a supportive, non-competitive environment.
With guidance from adult females, girls have a week to write an original song and perform it live – with bandmates they’ve just met at camp. Girls choose an instrument to learn (guitar, bass, drums, keys) and participate in daily instruction, rehearsals and songwriting. Workshops also take place, such as: positive body image, self defense, screen-printing, recording and zine-making. All workshops are meant to feed creativity, self-confidence, collaboration and expression. During the lunch hour, inspirational female musicians are invited to perform live for the girls and participate in a discussion. At the end of the week, all camper bands perform their original song at the big showcase event, held at a music venue in L.A.

Rock n’ Roll Camp for Girls Los Angeles is an activity of Community Partners, a nonprofit charity exempt from federal income tax under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
