Artist Bio
Also known as “Mr. Steve,” co-host of the PBS KIDS preschool destination that features the popular shows Curious George, Clifford the Big Red Dog, Super Why, The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That and Peg + Cat, Steve Roslonek of SteveSongs has been writing and performing his award-winning music for kids and families for the past fifteen years. Steve blends participatory songs, clever stories and great melodies to create what the Boston Globe called “not just a musical journey but an entertaining, interactive and educational one.”

Steve has performed at over 3000 shows across the country in the last 15 years. He’s won numerous prestigious awards, including two Parents’ Choice Gold Awards, a Nappa Honor, two iParenting Media Awards, and two Children’s Music Web Awards. His critically acclaimed CD is Marvelous Day (2006). Combining his two passions, music and kids, has yielded what Steve calls “the coolest job ever.”

PRE-CONCERT ACTIVITIES:
“Little Hands, Big World” Interactive Workshops:
Made possible by grants from the Tournament of Roses Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts, “Little Hands, Big World,” is a series of interactive workshops which take place prior to our Children’s Night concerts during our Summer Season. These workshops are FREE of charge, and designed to extend children’s experience of our concerts, and expand their cultural understanding by teaching music, songs, and dance from around the world. These interactive programs are offered by highly skilled teaching artists from the Armory Center for the Arts in a welcoming and supportive group environment that engages children and encourages parental involvement.

Covering traditions from the African diaspora, Asia, Latin America, and our own backyard, “Little Hands, Big World” will include participatory cultural dance and singing, drumming workshops, instrument building, and art activities as a fun and hands-on means by which families can further experience and appreciate the cultural music and dance presented in our summer festival.

The series invites families and people of all ages to experience a multi-cultural, multidisciplinary journey around the globe in celebration of the diversity of Southern California.

KidZone
KidZone features child and family focused interactive fun and games! Activities vary by day. Children can have their face painted, grab a balloon, make chalk drawings, make instruments, and color to their hearts content.
