Shannon, Monique, Megan, and Elene have a passion for music and helping kids. They sing in the school choirs and volunteer their services helping kids at their churches. Because of all the tragedies going on in the world involving kids, they saw a need for teaching safety. Thinking that if kids could only be made aware of what they could do in a given situation, some of these tragedies could be avoided. What better way than to combine the two main interests in their lives - singing and helping kids. This is how the group, the Safety Girls, was born.
The sound is derived from a combination of Rap and R & B music emerging from some of the girls’ favorite artists popular today. Music can convey a message in an entertaining and fun way; and, if it’s catchy it will be memorable. Kids need to know about the basics of safety like calling 911; what to do in case of a fire; electricity precautions; using seatbelts; and stranger awareness. These can be very dry topics but the girls feel if they are presented in a creative way kids will listen.
